A humorous work in progress look into the “DIY circus” workshop of Eliška Brtnická.

How do you write a grant application at a table that has no legs?

How do you use a jigsaw to round the edges?

How do you explain an artistic intention in bureaucratic language?

Through circus art, the author opens up the topics of systems, bureaucracy, and the absurdities that accompany the creative process. She also responds to the introduction of the status of a professional artist in the Czech Republic and raises the question of what it actually means to be a “recognized” artist. She invites the audience into her workshop, sharing not only her own experience but also the testimonies of her colleagues. She weaves together a physical performance with documentary texts and AI-generated texts as a contribution to the ongoing debate on the sustainability of artistic work.

A performative statement that wanted to be said during a roundtable discussion on the topic of the status of the artist, but did not fit into the given format of communication.

Humorný pohled do kuchyně DIY cirkusu Elišky Brtnické

Jak napsat žádost o grant u stolu, který nemá nohy?

Jak použít přímočarou pilu k zaoblení okrajů?

Jak vysvětlit umělecký záměr úředním jazykem?

Skrze cirkusové umění otevírá autorka téma systému, byrokracie a s tím spojených absurdit tvůrčího procesu. Reaguje také na vznik statusu profesionálního umělce v ČR a předkládá otázku, co znamená být „uznaným“ tvůrcem. Diváka zve do své dílny, sdílí vlastní zkušenost, ale i výpovědi svých kolegů. Nechává nahlédnout do průběhu příprav a do dění v zákulisí. Fyzickou performance spolu s dokumentárními texty a texty generovanými AI skládá jako příspěvek do debaty o udržitelnosti tvůrčí práce.

Performativní výpověď, která chtěla zaznít při diskuzi u kulatého stolu na téma status umělce, ale nevešla se do daného formátu komunikace.
